Services in the Barwon South West Homelessness Network

In the Barwon South West Region there are two Transitional Housing Management (THM) agencies providing accommodation, and sixteen Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) agencies and a number of associated services providing support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These services work with people of all ages seeking assistance for diverse reasons, including, but not limited to, discord in the family home, financial hardship, drug or alcohol abuse, mental health concerns, or a combination of these. In 2002/2003, regional SAAP agencies provided 2,700 support periods to individuals and families. The Network of Barwon South West Homelessness Assistance agencies began in 1996 and is resourced by a Networker. The Network is advised and assisted by a Reference Group whose members are drawn from a broad selection of agencies. The main role of the Networker is to resource and support the regional homelessness sector.
